Read Your Laundry Symbols

Most of us do not pay attention to the laundry care symbols when we purchase a piece of cloth. It is probably because, they are all in symbol language, and we don’t have the time or patience to decode these. So more than often we assume that it is okay to just wash the clothing as we wash our other clothes, only to regret later that your new favourite cloth has either shrunk, torn or has lost its shape totally.
All the labels that you can see on a particular piece of clothing first inform you about the type of material it is made of. Then you can check for the laundry symbols which suggests how you need to wash them, how you need to dry them, whether you should iron it or not, whether you can bleach the cloth or not or if you need to send the clothing for professional washing such as dry cleaning, etc.
That is why knowing about the laundry symbols is extremely important, especially when you are washing children’s clothing as the harsh detergents or the heat can make the soft clothing very uncomfortable for the toddler to wear.
Detailed infographics are available at Love2Laundry which you can use as a reference before washing new clothes.
